Christmas Night Inc Introduces Halloween Maggie's Blog Part 7

Halloween developed from the blending of an ancient Irish festival marking the end of the harvest season and the Catholic observance of All Saints Day and All Souls Day.

We now celebrate Halloween on the last day of October with costumer parties, city parades, yard displays, trick-or-treating and more.  This year I have seen more yards displays and larger skeletons than I have ever seen before.

During my time working for TPI Canada I designed several Halloween products including a Cat in a Pumpkin and a Witch.  However, the size did not compare with what I am seeing today.  This year was our first year selling Halloween products at Christmas Night Inc.  Here are a couple of products from our new Halloween line:

Unfortunately, you are too late for Halloween 2025 but we will be back with more Halloween products in 2026.

  • 75820 Large Nativity Lights

Holiday Lights (Part 6) by Maggie

Holiday Lighting Specialists was founded in 1994 by Neil Martin after his own Christmas Lighted display of Santa in a Sleigh on his Houseboat won first prize in a Christmas July parade.  Neil’s two sons, Eric and Travis got involved in the company startup.  The factory was built in 1996 in Tonkawa, Oklahoma.  Business was so good the factory had to expand three times giving them 40,000 square feet of manufacturing space.

They made a quality, reliable product that stays lighted season after season.  The frames will last forever, and the LED lights are made to sparkle for 30,000 hours, or about 15 to 20 years. https://youtu.be/q7XaYMZWTfs?si=cLWZhivLog5qP8p9

By 2008 Neil Martin had retired and Travis Martin left the company.  Eric Martin continued to run the company with a staff of between 11 and 20.  We met Eric at the Atlanta Gift Market in the early 2000s.  Soon after we started purchasing their lighted displays.  Eric did a great job of the photography which we still use today.  In 2011, Eric decided to discontinue manufacturing the lighted displays and after about a year (approximately 2012) the company was sold to Star Illuminations, a custom lighting and decorating company in Vancouver, Canada.

Star Illuminations, changed the name to HolidayLights.com and, offered the line of Christmas Lighted display to Eric’s customers.  To make it easier for the US customers they arranged to ship from just across the US border in Blaine, WA.   HolidayLights.com has continued to offer Eric Martin’s product line until the present day.  Elsa Ward has been our contact there.  Elsa appears to do everything and has been doing a wonderful job for us for the last 10 years or so.

Some of our favorite and most popular items include Santa Sleigh and Reindeer, the Large Nativity Sets and Stars.

Christmas Night Inc. – Hansa Creations - Part 5

Hansa Creations have provided Christmas Night Inc. with plush animals for the last 15 years.  They have created more than 7,000 realistic animal reproductions all beautifully crafted and hand sculptured.

I have visited their studios in the Philippines several times.  They have a beautiful showroom several stories high where they can exhibit 16 foot giraffes and many other beautiful animals of the wild.  It is almost like visiting the zoo.  Hansa conducts visits from local schools.  While I was there, there was a group of local school children on an educational tour.  They were having so much fun and their excitement was catching!   They loved learning about the animals’ habitat and about protecting our environment which is home to the animals.

Hansa has a Go Green policy.  They use recycled raw materials in the filling of the animals.  Each product is tested to American ASTM F963-08, US consumer product safety commission standards.

At Christmas Night Inc we sell Hansa Reindeer, Polar Bears, Penguins, Snow Leopards and more.  We create displays with some of our fiberglass products such as these Nordic Reindeer and Polar Bear with Sleigh.

And Husky Sled and Polar Bear

Christmas Night Inc. also sells the Snow Leopard which recently had its status changed by IUCN from Endangered to Vulnerable.

Christmas Night Inc. - The Team

We are a small Team at Christmas Night Inc., but each of us plays our part and is dedicated to the success of Christmas Night Inc. I rely 100% on the people who work with me; without them, there would be no Christmas Night.

I am Margaret Henderson (Maggie), the founder and President. I have been here from day one and love the work I do and the people I work with. I wear multiple hats, buying product, designing and photographing new products, overseeing our inventory and warehouse, upkeeping our website, outsourcing suppliers, etc.

    Maggie

Donald Henderson has been my partner from the beginning, but started working for Christmas Night Inc. several years later. Donald is the Vice President and interfaces with our customers to provide truck shipping quotes and answer questions. Our customers have gotten to know him over the years, and when I answer the phone will ask for him by name. Donald is also the company’s CFO.

    Donald

Eddie Foy is our Warehouse manager. Eddie has been with Christmas Night Inc. for 17 years. Eddie manages the warehouse, including receiving incoming shipments, loading skids, and shipping out product, recording the specifications of the products. Should a customer want to pick up at the warehouse, Eddie is the friendly person who will help load your truck or van.

Collin Rhodes has been with Christmas Night for 13 years. Collin assists Eddie in the warehouse. Collin works very well with Eddie, does a great job, and always has a smile on his face.

Liz Crawford is our bookkeeper. Liz is an independent contractor and comes in once a week. We have had about 5 different bookkeepers in the 26 years we’ve been in business, so I am hoping Liz is here for the long haul.

Mountain Media hosted our website for about 20 years. James Curley and Scott Fultz were the original owners. Several years ago, they were bought out by Jason Dewitt. Even though James, Scott, and Jason have not been employees, they have felt like part of the team. Sadly, Mountain Media decided to discontinue in website hosting business, and we have moved www.christmasnightinc.com to Shopify. Jason and his team still work with us on the Search Engine Optimization.

The Beginning of Christmas Night Inc. - Part Three

It became obvious in the early 2000s that manufacturing Christmas plastic products in the USA and Canada was becoming more difficult. The competition was moving offshore, where labor was cheaper. Christmas Night Inc.’s only choice was to start sourcing products from overseas.

I had been going to the Atlanta Gift Show and the New York Toy Show. It was at these shows that I found several importers of Christmas statues. A&B Floral provided us with a wonderful Nativity Set, which we began importing by the container load. Unfortunately, their factory began raising prices, and A&B decided to move their molds to another factory. The new factory was a complete failure, product quality was terrible, and we had to discontinue this wonderful line. In the meantime, we had been buying smaller Nativity sets from Roman Inc.’s Joseph Studio. These sets were beautiful but a little too fragile for outdoor use. However, we continued selling them until very recently.

I travelled to the FAME show in the Philippines in 2005. There, I discovered a manufacturer of Nativity and Christmas dolls made by AlRiver. The fabrics used for these dolls were fabulous, and we imported several containers of their dolls. We combined the dolls with plush animals from Hansa Creations. Hansa’s plush animals are also made in the Philippines.

That same year, I also visited AAA/YAB Designs in Manila. They had a wonderful collection of Christmas and Nativity Statues. We began importing Santas, Snowmen, Toy Soldiers, and Nativity figures from YAB.

10 years later, YAB moved its manufacturing to Cambodia. I visited them in Cambodia and found their operation in a sad state.

We turned our focus back to the Philippines and found Heinimex. At that time, Heinimex made very few Christmas products. I began designing Nativity Sets, Santas, Snowmen, and Nutcrackers. These are the products you can now see at www.christmasnightinc.com. Heinimex is a wonderful partner. We have worked together for over 15 years, designing many new items for Christmas Night Inc. Here are a couple of our newest products.

The Beginning of Christmas Night Inc. - Part Two

The idea of Christmas Night Inc. began while I was working as a product designer for TPI Plastics USA in Amsterdam, New York. The building where I worked at 50 Willow Street, is of some significance because it has been home to Christmas Night Inc for the last 25 years.

TPI manufactured plastic Christmas, Garden, and Toy products. One of TPI’s largest customers buying Christmas figures was Walmart. However, among the products Walmart purchased from TPI were the Nativity Holy Family, the Shepherd, the Angel, and Animals, but no Three Kings. Walmart customers began calling and begging us for the Three Kings. We only sold wholesale and could not sell the Three Kings to Walmart's customers. The idea grew in my mind to start an online store selling the Three Kings to Walmart customers and perhaps others. It was 1999 when I incorporated Christmas Night Inc. and setup a Yahoo store to sell the Kings. The very day we opened our online store, we started getting orders.

The Beginning of Christmas Night Inc. - Part One

I am Maggie, founder and President of Christmas Night Inc. This blog will tell the story of Christmas Night Inc., but more importantly, will share my passion for Christmas, where my passion began, and where it is heading now.

Christmas was a big deal in my family. My brothers and I would put out our stockings on Christmas Eve, listen for the jingle of Santa’s sleigh bells as we fell asleep. Wake up early and rush downstairs to see if Santa has eaten his cookies and left us the gifts we wanted.

There was church with Dad while Mother cooked the turkey. We were not allowed to open the presents from under the tree until the turkey dinner was complete. Dad would announce the presents while we tore off the wrapping paper. At the end of Christmas Day, I would take all my presents up to my bedroom and marvel over them.

As I grew older, I would go out into the forest with my Mom and choose a small tree for my room, which I would decorate with cast-off decorations my Mom gave me.

This was where it started, but eventually it grew into a business for me.

Tune in again next week to find out how my Christmas passion turned into Christmas Night Inc.
